Argentina’s team coach Maradona announces World Cup list

National Team coach, Diego Maradona, announced the names of the 23 players who shall make up the Argentinean squad at the 2010 South Africa World Cup, unexpectedly including Ariel Garcé and ratifying Mario Bolatti, who was head to head with Juan Mercier till the last moment.

The 23 names announced by Maradona today are:

GOALIES: Sergio Romero, Mariano Andújar and Diego Pozo.

DEFENDERS: Nicolás Otamendi, Clemente Rodríguez, Martín Demichelis, Walter Samuel, Gabriel Heinze, Nicolás Burdisso and Ariel Garcé.

MIDFIELDERS: Javier Mascherano, Jonás Gutiérrez, Juan Sebastián Verón, Angel Di María, Maximiliano Rodríguez, Javier Pastore and Mario Bolatti.

FORWARDS: Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuaín, Diego Milito, Carlos Tevez, Sergio Agüero and Martín Palermo.

These players are to be present tomorrow at the Argentine Football Association (AFA) training grounds in Ezeiza, to begin training for the match against Canada next May, 24th, at River Plate Stadium, a match which shall also be part of the Bicentenary celebrations.

The National team is expected to fly to South Africa on Friday, May, 28th in a non stop flight to Johannesburg from where they shall go to Pretoria by coach.

The national Argentine team shall be based for the whole length of their stay at the World Cup at Pretoria University which has been refurbished to welcome Maradona and his players.
