Télam. National News Agency of Argentina. June 3, 2010. The Argentine team forward Lionel Messi stated today that “for Argentina, having a great tournament is being crowned champions".
The Barcelona forward, during an interview with the press following a training session at the University of Pretoria, agreed with the rest of the team in that the squad is doing great preparatory work and has great enthusiasm as it faces the opening match June, 12th against Nigeria.
“I believe this is the greatest moment of my career and it is also the best moment for the squad at large. We felt we needed to be together and now all there is left to do is win the World Cup which is an obligation for Argentina”, said Messi at the press conference.
Barcelona's forward remarked on "the great environment among" all the players and the fact that "the group stands very strong".
Messi further added that winning the trophy is "a group" objective, not an individual one.
He expressed that he feels "very well" within the team lead by Diego Maradona and that he is "calmed and feels supported" by all his team mates.
