Messi: "This team is ready to be crowned champion"

Télam. National News Agency of Argentina. June 15, 2010. The Argentine team forward Lionel Messi said that the team led by Diego Maradona is ready to be crowned World Champion and explained that he used to be very affected by criticism.

"I am one of those who wishes the best for the national team, which is ready to be world champion, we shall fight to hold the cup", explained Messi during an interview with TyC Sports.


"Being world champions shall be different from anything else", he added.


In addition to this, Messi made reference to the relationship with his room mate Juan Sebastián Verón and acknowledged that he was present "in the most difficult moments".


As for the group unity, the Argentine star player said that it was related to the "tough criticism" received during the play offs. “We had it very tough, that made us stronger and drew us closer. The time we spent together preparing was very useful and it helped us get into the right state of mind”, he remarked.


Messi further acknowledged that Maradona had changed many things “and is now at ease working on all the details”. “The world cup was going to be difficult and we all started from scratch, we knew it was going to be different and we need to make the most of it”, he concluded.
